Pterodactyl billing for game server hosting
Keep Pterodactyl as the game panel and let FluxBilling do the selling. Each product maps to a nest and an egg with its own CPU, memory, disk and limits; a paid order creates the customer’s Pterodactyl account and the server, and the client area carries power controls, SFTP details, backups, reinstall and the game’s startup variables. Unpaid invoices suspend the server.

The plugin is free. There is no per-server fee.
The Pterodactyl plugin is listed at no charge on the FluxBilling marketplace and installs on every tier. FluxBilling plans are priced by the clients you bill, not by the game servers Pterodactyl runs.
Your panel and your Wings nodes stay yours. The plugin needs two API keys and nothing installed on the nodes.

From a paid invoice to a game server on your panel
Pterodactyl already knows your games as nests and eggs. The plugin reads them, so an egg’s variables become the server’s environment without anyone copying values by hand.
- 01OrderThe customer picks the product and a server name at checkout. The invoice is created and paid like any other.
- 02Link the Pterodactyl userThe plugin looks the customer up by FluxBilling’s external ID, then by email, and creates a Pterodactyl user only if neither exists. A user found by email is tagged with the external ID so the next order links straight to it.
- 03Read the eggThe egg’s variables are fetched and merged with any defaults you set on the product, so the server starts with the configuration the game expects.
- 04Size and createCPU, memory, swap, disk, IO weight and the database, backup and extra-port limits are applied, and the server is created in the location on the product.
- 05DeliverThe plugin fetches the server’s allocations and the node’s SFTP details, and the client area shows the address to connect to and the SFTP login.
What the customer can do with a game server
Staff side. Staff can also send a console command, rename the server, change the customer’s Pterodactyl password and jump into the panel, with the Pterodactyl server ID, UUID and user ID on hand.
A nest, an egg and a size make a product
Sell the same game at three sizes by making three products on the same egg.
| Setting | What it decides |
|---|---|
| Nest and egg | The game category and the specific game or application within it, read from your panel. |
| Location | The Pterodactyl location servers are deployed to. It needs free allocations. |
| CPU limit | A percentage of one core: 100 is one core, 200 is two, 0 is unlimited. |
| Memory, swap and disk | In MB. Swap 0 disables it; −1 makes it unlimited. |
| Block IO weight | Between 10 and 1,000; 500 by default. |
| Database, backup and extra-port limits | How many databases and backups the customer may create, and how many extra port allocations the server gets. |
| Dedicated IP | Assigns the server a dedicated IP address. |
| Disable OOM killer | Stops the Linux out-of-memory killer from terminating the server. |
| Docker image and startup overrides | Optional replacements for the egg’s default image and startup command. |
| Default environment variables | JSON overrides for egg variables, for example a player limit or a server jar name. |
Connect Pterodactyl in four steps
- 01Create an application API keyIn Pterodactyl: Admin → Application API, with read and write on users, servers, nests, eggs, locations and allocations.
- 02Create a client API keyAccount → API Credentials, while logged in as a root admin. Power controls, live stats, reinstall and startup variables use it.
- 03Install the pluginInstall Pterodactyl Provider from the marketplace in your FluxBilling admin panel. It is free.
- 04Build a product and test itPick a nest, an egg, a location and the limits, then place one test order before you sell it.
- Panel URLThe full URL of your Pterodactyl panel, without a trailing slash.
- Application API keyCreates and manages users and servers, and reads nests, eggs, locations and allocations.
- Client API keyDrives power, live stats, reinstall and startup variables for the servers the plugin creates.
The invoice drives the server
| When | The plugin |
|---|---|
| Invoice paid | Creates or links the Pterodactyl user and creates the server. |
| Overdue past your grace period | Suspends the server in Pterodactyl. |
| Paid after suspension | Unsuspends it. |
| Upgraded | Recalculates the limits and updates the server’s build configuration. |
| Terminated | Deletes the server, falling back to a forced delete if Pterodactyl refuses the normal one. |
Grace periods, reminders and the order in which renewals, payments and suspensions run are platform settings shared by every service — see Billing and Provisioning.
What it does not do
- Written for the Pterodactyl Panel API. Pelican, the Pterodactyl fork, is not listed as supported.
- The plugin does not install or manage Wings or your nodes; they stay under Pterodactyl.
- The customer’s console lives in the Pterodactyl panel. Staff can send single console commands from FluxBilling.
FluxBilling can also run the game servers itself
If you would rather not operate Pterodactyl at all, FluxBilling’s game hosting module runs each customer’s server as a container on machines you own, managed by FluxBilling’s own agent — the same machines can host virtual servers too.
That module is priced per node rather than free, and it replaces the panel instead of connecting to it. Operators who already run Pterodactyl usually keep it and use this plugin.
How the game hosting module worksPterodactyl and FluxBilling, answered
- What is the best billing panel for Pterodactyl?
- It depends on what else you sell. FluxBilling suits hosts who want billing, the client area and provisioning in one product — game servers next to VPS, dedicated servers or web hosting — with the Pterodactyl plugin free on every tier.
- Is the Pterodactyl plugin free?
- Yes. It is listed free on the FluxBilling marketplace. You pay for the FluxBilling plan, which is priced by clients, not by game servers.
- Which games can I sell?
- Any game your panel has an egg for — Minecraft, Rust, ARK and the rest. Each product points at one nest and one egg.
- Do customers get SFTP and backups?
- Yes. The client area shows the SFTP host, port and username, and lets customers create, restore and delete backups up to the limit on the product.
- Does it work with Pelican?
- The plugin is written for the Pterodactyl Panel API. Pelican is not on its supported list.
- What happens when a customer does not pay?
- The server is suspended in Pterodactyl once the invoice passes your grace period, and unsuspended when it is paid. Termination deletes it.
