If you want to own your billing platform rather than rent it, these are the two options — and beyond that they are almost nothing alike. One product versus four, and where each wins.

How this was sourced. FluxBilling publishes this comparison and sells a competing product — and notably, one that does not offer a perpetual licence at all, so on the central question here we are not an option. Every Blesta and HostBill figure was read from the vendor's own pricing page on 18 August 2026; both sources are linked at the end. Figures are in the currency each vendor publishes with no exchange rate applied.
Blesta's owned licences are $350 Branded, $425 Unbranded, $500 Flex, $1,295 Lifetime and $1,495 Lifetime Flex, all with unlimited clients. The first three include one year of support; the two Lifetime tiers include updates forever plus three years of support. After that, support and updates renewal is $62/year and is optional. "Flex" means the licence is not locked to a single IP address. Blesta also sells monthly licences at $17.95, $20.95 and $23.95 if you would rather not buy.
HostBill's licences are $599 Startup, $999 Enterprise, $1,599 Data Center and $5,999 All-Inclusive. There is no monthly plan of any kind. Updates and support renewal is $125/year after the first year. Support beyond the included case count is $89 per ticket or $999 for a bundle of 50, with 10, 15, 20 and 100 cases included by edition.

Blesta sells one product. Every owned tier is the same software; the price differences buy branding removal and IP flexibility, not features. What you can do on the $350 licence you can do on the $1,495 one.
HostBill sells four products under one name. The editions are feature gates and the gates land in commercially decisive places. Startup covers cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin and a set of cloud providers. Enterprise adds PowerDNS, SolusVM, Proxmox, OnApp, OpenStack and CloudStack, plus the IPAM app. Data Center adds Colocation Manager and Inventory Manager along with a set of monitoring and backup integrations. All-Inclusive unlocks everything, which HostBill's page cites as 106+ integrations.
So the comparison depends entirely on what you provision. A cPanel shared host compares $350 to $599. A VPS provider on Proxmox compares $350 to $999. A colocation provider compares $350 to $1,599 — but at that point they are not comparing like for like at all, because Blesta at $350 does not do colocation and HostBill Data Center does.
Price, decisively, on the like-for-like case. If your provisioning needs are covered by both, $350 against $599 is not close, and $474 against $849 over three years is not either.
No feature cliff. You are never one edition away from the thing you need, because there are no editions.
An exit ramp. Monthly licences from $17.95 mean you can run it before you buy it, then convert. HostBill's only entry is the licence purchase.
Cheaper to stay current. $62/year against $125/year, and optional rather than expected.
Breadth, by a wide margin. 106+ integrations at the top edition against a smaller core catalogue extended by third parties. If you provision from something unusual, HostBill is far more likely to have it in the box.
Infrastructure capability that Blesta does not publish at all. IPAM, Inventory Manager and Colocation Manager have no Blesta equivalent. For a dedicated-server or colocation provider this is not a preference, it is the requirement, and Blesta at any price does not meet it without a second product.
Predictable support at scale. Per-ticket pricing is unusual but it is honest — you are not subsidising other people's ticket volume. A quiet year costs nothing extra.
Perpetual licences invite you to stop paying the renewal. On Blesta's non-Lifetime owned tiers, stopping means no more updates. On HostBill, the $125/year is what keeps you current. A billing platform holds card tokens, tax records and customer data — running an unpatched one to save $62 or $125 a year is a poor trade, and any honest three-year model assumes you renew. That is how the table above is built.
It does not, on the question this post is about. FluxBilling is subscription-only and has no perpetual licence: Lite €4.95/month, Starter €24.95/month, Professional €34.95/month, Business €44.95/month, with self-hosting available on Business as a €500 one-time fee on top of an active subscription rather than in place of it. The one place the comparison reopens is infrastructure. HostBill's answer to DCIM, IPAM and colocation is the $1,599 edition; ours is that they are in every tier from €4.95/month, with WHMCS and EasyDCIM importers included. That is a subscription-versus-licence trade rather than a feature one, and we worked it through in the three-year cost model.

If you sell shared hosting, VPS on a mainstream hypervisor, or reseller accounts, and you want to own the licence: Blesta, and the difference in price is large enough that it is not a close call.
If you rack hardware, sell colocation, or provision from something outside the mainstream: HostBill, and price the Data Center edition rather than the Startup one.
